Video Splitter — Privacy Policy

How the Video Splitter app handles your information.

Effective: July 14, 2026 Last updated: July 31, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how PromisingApps ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Video Splitter mobile application (the "App") — com.technicles.videosplitter.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the App. Our other apps each have their own privacy policy; some of them share advertising-consent decisions with this App, as described under Advertising consent & consent syncing.

Your files stay on your device

We do not upload your media. Video Splitter processes your videos, audio, and images entirely on your device. Splitting, trimming, mixing audio, and converting are performed locally using an on-device processing engine. Your source files and the files the App creates are never sent to us or to any server. Output files are saved only to your device's storage.

The App requests access to media and storage solely so you can pick the files you want to work on and save the results back to your device. This access is used on-device and is not used to collect or transmit your files.

On-device suggestions & smart re-engagement

The App includes an optional smart-suggestions system that surfaces videos from your gallery that might be ready to share — for example, a long clip recorded recently that you haven't split yet. This system runs entirely on your device. No video data, metadata, or behavioral information is uploaded or shared with us or any third party.

What it looks at

The suggestions engine reads metadata only from your device's media library — it never decodes or analyses the actual video content. The metadata it uses includes:

How it learns your preferences

The App stores a local event log on your device (using an on-device database) that records anonymous usage signals such as: opening the App, importing a video, completing an edit, sharing a result, tapping a suggestion, or dismissing one. This log never leaves your device. The App uses it to build a lightweight on-device model of how you use the App — for example, whether you tend to share clips to social stories or to messaging apps — so it can rank suggestions in a way that is personally relevant to you. The model is updated locally each time new signals arrive and is never transmitted.

Where suggestions appear

Home screen row

"Ready to share" strip showing your best candidate clips.

Export Hub card

"Next up" card shown after a completed export — confidence-gated so only relevant clips appear.

Notifications

Optional push alerts when a new qualifying clip is detected. Off by default; you opt in explicitly.

Notifications

Suggestion notifications are off by default. You can enable them from the Suggestions settings inside the App. The App will ask for your device's notification permission only when you turn this on. You can turn notifications back off at any time from the same settings screen or from your device's system notification settings.

To avoid being intrusive, the system applies automatic rate limits (at most one notification per 24 hours and three per seven days) and quiet hours (no alerts between 22:00 and 08:00). If you repeatedly dismiss suggestions, the system automatically reduces how often it offers them.

Your controls

Everything stays on your device. The local event log, the on-device preference model, and all suggestion logic run on your phone only. We cannot see which videos you have, which ones the App suggested, or whether you accepted or dismissed a suggestion.

Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or postal address to use the App. The information collected falls into the following categories:

Information you choose to provide

Where required (for example, for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland), we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for your consent before showing personalized ads or using certain identifiers. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from within the App.

Consent syncing across our apps. This App is part of a group of apps operated by PromisingApps. The advertising-consent decisions you make under European privacy regulations may be shared and synchronized across the apps in this group. If you set your consent preferences in one of these apps, that choice can be applied to the others — so you are shown fewer, more consistent consent prompts. Only consent decisions governed by European regulations are synced, and only across the apps listed below. Each of these apps has its own separate privacy policy.

Apps in this consent group:

Purchases

The App may offer optional in-app purchases and subscriptions (for example, to remove ads). These transactions are handled by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment-card details; Google processes payment and shares only the information needed to confirm and manage your purchase.

Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

Data retention

Files you process remain on your device under your control until you delete them; we never receive them. The on-device suggestions event log is stored locally and managed by the App; clearing the App's data in your device settings will remove it. Data collected by our advertising and analytics partners is retained according to their respective policies.

Your rights & choices

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

International data transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are carried out under appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this address. Significant changes may also be communicated within the App.
